City of Dover Takes Action to Address Neglected Properties, Enforces Existing Ordinance

In response to complaints from residents, the City of Dover is taking action to address neglected properties that detract from the community’s appearance and safety. The city will be enforcing an existing ordinance designed to tackle unsightly and unsanitary conditions, ensuring that all properties meet established standards for maintenance and cleanliness.

The ordinance, which has been in place since 2017 to promote community well-being, allows the city to address issues such as overgrown vegetation, accumulated trash, abandoned vehicles, and structurally unsafe buildings. These conditions not only impact the visual appeal of neighborhoods but can also pose health and safety risks to residents.
