2026 Budget Workshop

The City of Dover in Pope County, State of Arkansas, met for a budget workshop on November 25, 2025, 6 p.m. at the Dover City Hall. The following were present: Mayor Roger Lee presiding and the following Council members: Russell Warhurst, Jonathan Isaac, Carl Wetzel, Connie Ragsdale, and Brent Hottinger.
Absent: Fred Standridge.

Mayor Lee asked the council to look at the 2026 budget. Questions about what other expenses consisted of. A lot of this category is money spent on paying for rides at Ozark Memories Day and Hometown Christmas fireworks. Office supplies were higher this last year but do not expect it to be that high next year because some items are only ordered every couple of years (e.g. receipt books, voice recorder). Office equipment was higher because of purchasing a new copy machine this year. Council discussed reserve amounts. The police budget had included the building maintenance line that was recently added to separate the police from city hall to clarify which department the funds were spent on. Council discussed the vehicle maintenance and equipment budget lines. The fire department budget has been updated to accommodate the purchase of the air-packs the council approved at the last council meeting. Questions on the unemployment rate for the fire department were discussed. Inquiries to several individuals and government agencies have yielded no true answers for the treasurer on how to appropriate unemployment for volunteer fire fighters.
If no new concerns arise with the budget a resolution will be presented at the next council meeting on December 16,2025 at Dover City Hall at 6 pm.
With no further questions, Council member Ragsdale made a motion to adjourn. Council member Warhurst 2nd. A voice vote. Yeas:5. Nays:0. Motion carried.
